Power System Controlled Islanding using Modified Discrete Optimization Techniques

Controlled islanding is implemented to save the power system from experiencing blackouts during severe sequence line tripping. The partitioned into several stand-alone islands by removing optimal transmission controlled execution. Since selecting lines be removed (cutsets) important in this action, a good technique required order determine solution (lines removed). Thus, paper developed two techniques, namely Modified Discrete Evolutionary Programming (MDEP) and Particle Swarm Optimization (MDPSO) for implementation. best among these which based on their capability of producing with minimal objective function (minimal flow disruption) will selected implement islanding. performance techniques evaluated through case studies using IEEE 118-bus test system. results show that MDEP produces compared MDPSO other previously published techniques.
